A lot of Nikon OOS at many dealers. Seems like this is an annual thing.

I think a lot of Nikon gear is just being sold right now. When I switched over a month ago, I had problems finding all the gear I needed. I think it's just a factor of supply vs. demand now.

It's a normal cyclical occurrence coupled with a lot of people switching to Nikon in the last several months.

I'm watching the 300 2.8 vr as I really want it, I should be happy with the 70-200 2.8
but I want the 300. Sadly I do not have the skill level to justify but I don't think that will stop me.
