Question Wanting to Rent Canon Mount 70-200/2.8 or 200/2.8 - 07-04-2008, 10:05 PM

Howdy, everyone.

First, if this is the wrong place/inappropriate in general, let me apologize. Contemplated putting it in the Buy/Sell Forum...but didn't quite know.

Basically, I'm wondering if there's anyone out there that will rent me their 70-200/2.8 (with or without IS), next weekend. Pickup late afternoon/early evening of Friday the 11th, drop off the evening of Saturday the 12th.

I'm shooting a wedding, and was renting one from Arlington Camera (where I've rented from plenty of times before), but last minute I am needing to go to Giddings for the entire week prior to the wedding to help out at my mother-in-law's Children's Camp.

I know that this is A LOT of money to rent out to someone you generally do not know. I'll leave any information you'd like (copy of DL, etc). You name your price, but I will mention that at Arlington Camera, the IS was $35 for the weekend, non IS was $30 for the weekend (that's one day rate, weekend is Friday afternoon to Monday morning). I am willing to pay more than that for convenience and trust.

Thanks everyone in advance. If you're interested in making a few easy dollars (gas money, grocery money, take you're honey on a date), please send me a PM or reply to this post and we'll get the ball rolling.

I must also mention that starting Monday, I will have NO internet access...

I must also mention that Sigma or Tamron works as well. I just need the f/2.8.

Thanks, again.

Dan - not a bad idea, and one that I hadn't really thought about. Wasn't there a company that was a forum sponsor? I don't see them listed anymore and I don't remember the name...

On a side note to everyone else, I'd also be slightly interested in the 200/2.8. Any takers?

If I don't find anyone by tomorrow, I'll probably end up renting online.

I rented a 70-200f2.8 from lensRental.com for 30 days and it worked out really well. you can rent for shorter times than that, but that was my need at the time. They ship two day.

good luck

Thanks everyone. I went ahead and rented from lensrentals.com. Let's see how it goes!! I got suckered in though and also rented the 24-70. Oops.

Now, I just have to find some way to play with them for the entire week, get hooked, and convince the wife to let me purchase them.....

Thanks again, though!
