Fry's this weekend has 16GB compact flash or SDHC for $49.99 each. They are Adata brand and are rated at "speedy" and "turbo".
Now I know everyone is thinking "Great, 16 gig. Put all your eggs in one basket and make it a cheap, no-name basket." What I was thinking is that the cameras with multiple memory slots can use a good card and have a backup on the cheap card. Then if the good card ever failed you would have a backup. And if you wrote JPEG to the backup you could put 8000 on it before it ever needed formatted. I know nobody wants to shoot anything important on quality 5 jpeg but hey- it's a backup and if you lost the raw files you may settle for whatever you got left.
