I won't be the Guinea Pig but as soon as everyone else works out the bugs I will definately be getting one.

I can't imagine shooting my Son's soccer game in HD at 500mm f4.

And a totally useless feature, video. Canon why not seven or eight programmable stops for HDR? That would be useful but not video.

At least they didn't put a pop up flash on it....

Canon loses a lot in translation for the website. I remember when the original 5D white paper stated in one place it was a pentamirror and in another a pentaprism design.

Senior: "Hey, that would be cool!"
Me: "We can record it right here, right now for $XX."
Senior: "Great! Let's do it!"

Just one more selling point for why they should let me be their photographer.

I think the people who think the video in a SLR is useless, are like the people back in the day that said "digital" is a fad.

Wedding shooters better learn a little video editing......soon. That's my bold prediction for the day

3.9fps? What.. wedding shooters don't need more than that? Oh, I guess we could video it instead.

It has possibilities.. I'm just not a big fan of convergent devices.
I would have preferred it didn't have the video and reduce the price further but many would have complained with Nikons new camera offering it.

As to quality I'm surprised as to how good it is. Here is some links to some video. Love to see what it will do with a long tele.

Things are changing, that's for sure. And we photographers had better be flexible enough to change as well. IOW, embrace change because change is inevitable.

I have read many conflicting reports about the specification surrounding the AF system and the sensor. Some have indicated the sensor is basically the old one from the 1DsMKIII while others have stated it is the new design found in the 50D with gapless micolenses.

Also I have seen reports that the 9 pt. AF is all crosstype sensors like the 40D/50D with the 6 inner pts. We will have to wait until the dust settles to find out for sure but the examples I have seen so far are very impressive and at its present price point it should be a good camera.

So far the only thing I have seen that may not have been improved from the 5D is possibly the number of AF pts. and maybe the number of cross type pts. but everything else has improved with many new features.

I like a high frame rate as much as the next guy, but I gotta say, the 3.9fps does not really bother me in the least. If I am framing up a crappy shot, and shoot one of that shot, then I only have to throw away one shot, but if I frame up a crappy shot and fire off 2 seconds of shots at 10FPS, then I now have to look at and delete 20 shots.

Conversely, if I frame up a winner, and fire off 20 shots in rapid succession of essentially the same scene, I have to evaluate all 20 for the minute differences (if there are any) any then decide which one I like the best, etc, and the deleting of a winner becomes that much harder, so you end up keeping 20 copies of what is essentially the same shot.

Slower frame rates don't really bother me, unless I am shooting action sports, but even then, not a huge deal, just something to work more diligently at without the frame rate.

21 mp seems like overkill to me -- I would rather have 25600 ISO that looked no worse than the older 5d 3200. That remains to be seen.

9 AF points doesn't really affect my style of shooting either. 90% or more of the time, I am only using one.

I wish they'd improved other features rather than include this P&S-like feature... but oh well.

I may be in the market for a 5D Mk I myself now... need a backup... we'll see.
I agree with you on this point completely. I could care less about a movie mode. I guess if I have it, I could see using it, but if I wanted a camcorder, I would get one. No need to waste development money and resources on that functionality.

The reason that I am pumped about this camera: I have been wanting a 5d (or any full frame for that matter) for a while, but with a few of the menu items that are on the 40d. I think this camera does a good job of filling that need (for me at least) and the bonus of the high iso settings seems very promising!

Memory card makers must be loving higher pixel counts and video capabilities.

Back to the special senior grad or wedding moment, won't they have to make a choice, video or still, unless you have two photogs/cameras? Can you grab a a still off that video that is hi-res?

For weddings, you would need a 2nd shooter for the most part.
