My D2X is lonely, my D80 ignored. - 10-11-2008, 09:25 PM

Since I got the D700, I find that I do not use the D80 at all as my walk around camera, and my D2X just does not get used as much, although it feels better than the D700. I really prefer the feel of the Pro body Nikons, although its just so nice to be able to dial up the ASA and get shots that you would never be able to with the D2x. So I think that I will give the D80 to my 10 year old, and keep the D2X until the D3x/D4 comes out, then give it to my sister in law. The D700 is amazing, and I love the full frame feature on it. Although the D2X with the 16-85mm is just stunning in terms of IQ. I don't normally use the two cameras since it is awkward carrying both, but I also miss the 1.5 crop at times when I need a telephoto. The IQ of both cameras is astounding, and really is impressive. I normally make 13x19 prints and they look good. Well, thats all the rant for today.

Two cameras feels awkward? Shucks! When I buy a third body I'm dreaming up ways to carry all of them at one time. And you call yourself a photographer!

The more I shoot with the D700, the less I use the D2X. The D700 is one heck of a camera, and I love the virtual horizon feature.

Man those are some problems you got...

Do you have the vertical grip for the D700?

No, no grip for the D700, I like it as it is for the most part, although its front heavy with the 24-70mm on it.

Say, how do I go about becoming one of your family member?
I think I have plenty of time to get that accomplished before D3X/D4 comes out then maybe you'd just pass on the D2x to me

Haven't used the D2X in a couple of months. Now that I have the grip on the D700, I don't think I will use the D2x again unless I just want two cameras. The D80 is getting ready to go to the sister in law.

Hey, so give any thought to IR? Make one an IR and now you have a neat new toy with which to play. I hear Scott is doing the IR converts now, too. He's cropped all mine, and if I get flush I am going to buy a new one so I can take the oldest one and have it IR'ed.

Actually made myself use the D2X today, I had the D700, but never took it out of the case, so I forced myself to use the "old" tech D2X. :D
