I have to agree, Arlington Camera is my favorite place!
Does anyone know if they create optical prints from negative film? |
I have been to Camera Stop a few times since it's the closest camera shop that is not a Wolf Camera. You will rarely find a store front shop that is going to be able to keep up with the on-line world.
The owner and most of the employees are much smarter about cameras and know what they are doing. You pay for service, and not just the equipment when you buy from them. From what I understand they still treat you better than the guys at Competitive Camera down in Dallas. (Not that I have had a problem with them, they have been great to me.)
I do think they are in trouble though. I don't think they have the studio anymore. They did not get enough business to have a rental studio since it was another retail space they had to rent.
As well, the last time I went in there to pick up a few items I was told they are no longer accepting returns.
That's going to hurt them for the Christmas season. I have told everyone not to get me anything from there for Christmas, if they get the wrong thing I want to be able to return it for the correct item. I also don't want to be stuck with something that I find does not fit my needs.
Normally when I have seen a company go that route they are having money issues. Then again, I can see where they might be having problems with people buying items, using them for an event or something, and then returning them. I am sure that if it happened a few times they would be ready to stop that type of activity.
I just hope they are still around in June and July. I am heading to a high power rocket launch and I want to rent the 300mm 2.8 for the week. :-)
