TriCoast cost me money - 11-20-2008, 06:56 AM

Okay, so MyKey posts a thread about some work that TriCoast did for Denny's Manufacturing (BTW - excellent work!) and of course I had to go out and take a look at it. Most of Denny's stuff is too expensive for me, but then I discovered the "Sale" section of their site. Ran across this....

http://www.dennymfg.com/store/index....emid=66&id=213

I've been in the market for this kind of background but when I saw this one at 50% off I couldn't resists. Plus, they're throwing in a free monopod (don't know if it's any good, but I really don't care). IF Mr. Fulton had never posted that link I would still be $100 richer today.

Thanks a bunch, Mike.

You are not the only one who got sucked into that sale!

So, thanks yourself Wes. I didn't see that earlier thread, but now that you've posted it here, I may be out some cash myself. Just consider it our little way to ease the credit crisis, one consumer at a time! LOL.

The photo black ROCKS!

Seriously I can place a light on the backdrop itself and it still comes out black!

The only problem it is so thick that cat or dog or other hair or fuzz in the house can attach itself to it so it takes some care to clean it. Truly kicks the butt out of paper and now that I have their white vinyl I do not use white paper either.

The mono-pod, well I have gone to using them for our wireless flash units now. Over 6 foot tall, very light weight and easy to travel with.

You can't beat it for the price, I have a 11x20 in our studio and simply LOVE the photo black!

AND FINALLY YOUR VERY WELCOME :)

How well does it work if you try to light it up with a gel?

Gels nicely. Doug Box used it in his class at SWPPA and it looked good. I'm thinking of getting it as well but I'm undecided between it, black soft spin which also gels well, and the Better Black from Larson's Sky High Backgrounds - Better Black - "Our most popular black- with out light better black will appear jet black- when lit -greens, reds, blues and purples will jump out! Mix in some jels and this background comes alive". Advice welcome.
