5D Mark II Mounted on Motorcycle - 12-16-2008, 10:02 AM

So I get my 5D II on Sunday and one of the first things I do is clamp it on the back of a speeding motorcycle.... Sounds smart to me.

I recommend clicking watch in HD

Here is a still shot from the same shoot.

Set shot.

That's cool and all, but would of been cooler if it was mounted in front.
Or looking backwards.
Or with a hot girl on the bike.

So your intention was to film your can? Seriously, I have better things to do than watch a video of another dudes derriere.

Interesting video. Looks pretty cool.

Just out of curiosity is that a pocket wizard attached to the camera?

Well I guess I'll be the first to say that (regardless of it being an ass shot) the quality looks sweet! Two questions- what was the white balance set to? How did you mount it? I'm guessing a superclamp. Reminds me of the first thing I did when I got my super clamp was to drive around in my Ginster Yellow GTI and take pictures. The hatch was open, the super clamp was on the gas strut for the hatch and the 3265 head on the super clamp put my FM2T with the 24mm at the perfect angle. I used a good old cable release snaked back into the car to trigger the shutter while I drove (10sec exposures or so). That was so much fun.

Was mounted with a super clamp and the styles were shot using the pocket wizard. I believe I set the WB to daylight but I am not quite sure.

Trust me I wanted to mount it on the front.... but trying to mount a camera that big on the front of a motorcycle without some sort of custom made mount is a bit difficult. Took some tinkering to get the super clamp to clamp into the trunk of the bike.

I tried to mount the camera on the front using 3 smalish suction cups with poles but it was to shaky to be usable.

Why? Because its cool as hell...That first shot is awesome.
I didn't click the video, but I'd like to know what lens was used.

As for the second comment, it's subject to opinion and interests. I, for one, love bikes. I was raised on them and if Houston wasn't so full of idiot drivers, I'd have one now. (Don't flame on my because I keep it real on H-Town's drivers either )

Pretty sweet Bryant, The quality is incredible. Crazy man for mounting the new 5D on the bike right after words but the results were good.

I appreciate the derogative comment... Love the constructive criticism.

The video I posted is just a sample clip.. I am gathering footage for a short film about sport bikes and this is more of a filler clip. I was just trying to get some footage from the 5D out there.

I asked because on my monitor it's pretty blue, like the white balance is off. Could be my monitor, but I think it'd look better corrected. Anyways, I still think it's rad. Makes me wish for the video ability (one day I'll pony up for a new body).
