Ken, the University of New Mexico has a similar film & darkroom curriculum and hardware. I think it's refreshing that these facilities exist. There's more to life than PS3s and Microsoft Office. As for job availablity, I know kids in my daughter's graduating class with business degrees working tables in restaurants. Go figure.
Ummhmmmm - have a friend who mortgaged his house, his retirement, his life to get his daughter a "name brand education." She graduated with a decent GPA of 3.3 with a degree in business and works for $12.00 an hour as accounting clerk. At the end of a week she very little to show for it, at these folks have a photograph.

Let's hear it for that HighSchool the instructor and the students.!

and FWIW, little ol Collin County "Community College" isn't far behind, with 2 wetlabs -35/120 and Large format. 4x5 Field View cameras and tripods for Photo II class.
2 seperate darkrooms lined with 40 Besslers(some a bit worn though) and print devoloping trays, etc.
Fiber Paper Drying and pressing equipment and teaching alternative processes.
large format Ink jet printers, Nikon Scanners and I think they have a 4x5 scanner.
Gawd I hope they have that! says they have an Imacon. :)

oh and a large two section studio with quality lighting and multiple backdrops.

soooo....uhm, see you there perhaps? after all film cameras are dirt cheap!
the experience is priceless.

The more I hear about C.C.C.C. the more impressed I am. Wish I lived closer.

On a sadder note, my friend Gary Hatcher is trying to get a new building for the Fine Art department at UT-Tyler built. It will have computers and Photoshop. That's all folks! Sad indeed.
