An "Atta boy" for B&H's used department. - 01-26-2009, 12:56 PM

I've been looking around for a used Leica M7 and want one with the MP view finder mods in it and if possible the optical DX reader.

B&H had a possible one with the 0.85 rangefinder and a 9+ grading. I emailed their Used Sales group with the questions and the serial number where the MP mod was started on the M7.

I expected not to hear any thing back today. In less than an hour I had all the information I had requested and the serial number of the camera to send to Leica if I wished to see if had been retroactively moded. But alas no joy, serial number before the mod and the old DX reader.

Back looking but I found B&H outstanding in their handling this rather complicated request.

Still waiting to hear from Leica regarding any warranty work.

I agree. I am so used to buying used now, that I rarely darken the doors of a "checkout" of new equipment. Addiitionally, you get a warranty through them for the same price you can buy used on the forum with an "as is" warranty (oxymoronic).

I, too, have bought used from B&H a couple of times and haven't been disappointed.

I didn't see this thread when originally posted, but echo the praise of B&H's customer service. I've also used the "live chat" feature and gotten instant information that was extremely helpful.

I've noticed this same phenomenon. People are pricing their used gear similar to B&H or KEH, and even reference it in their ads. Why would I buy from an individual versus a shop that backs up their used equipment with a warranty, and has to do a checkover beforehand?

Oh yeah, by the way, JohnT, I think I know which one of you can't be serious
