Is there a setting on the nikon d40 where.. - 02-08-2009, 02:43 PM


you can set it to a specific color. Like if someone had on a red shirt, when you take the picture, the shirt would be red and everything else would be black and white. If so, how do you set it on that function? Thanks!

I'm not aware of any camera that can do this. It is a function of post processing.

Don is correct. That look comes from selective desaturation in a post-processing program such as Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Photoshop Elements (to name two of the more popular titles).

ohh ok. thanks! my sister has a regular digi camera and her camera can select specific color so i thought maybe these can too.

some Canon point and shoots had the Color Accent feature where you pick one color and the picture would be as you described. The G9 had it.

AS far as I know, Canon was the only company that had this feature in some of its cameras.

The Canon G9 does it:


"Also in the scene mode list are two of the other My Colors features on the G9. The Color Accent feature lets you select a color to highlight, and then all the other colors are turned to black and white.
