Sigma DP1 and Leica Lux-4 - 05-06-2009, 05:07 PM

I was perusing the net, looking at some Sigma DP2 info. It's supposed to be shipped to stores this month.
But during my search I came across this guy's website. He reviewed the Lux-4 and the DP-1 with photos from each. I don't know whether it's his processing, presented opportunity, my own personal opinion or what, but the shots taken with the Leica are pretty darn sweet. I kinda wish there were examples of the same photo taken with the same camera to be compared side by side.

Get the Leica. Check Tony Rose's price.

I've had a love affair with my Ricoh GX-100 for the last year or two due to its great IQ, awesome manual controls and ease of use. For me it has been the "photographer's p&s", not the general consumer's p&s. But I'm looking to take the IQ to the next level. Logic would say that the larger dslr sized sensor in the DP2 would be the way to go, and there should be improvements in handling from the first gen DP1.
But after looking at those pic examples I am a bit confused.

Either way though I'm afraid I might miss my Ricoh, and I am fond of the noise it produces in b/w conversions.

I feel that pain. I'm very curious in the DP2 as well but I'm also following the Ricoh CX1. (I have Leica's sister the Panasonic LX3 and am very satisfied with it's performance.)

From what I heard the images off the DP1 were exceptional but the rest of the camera was not so I passed. I'm hoping they improved upon the shortcomings with the DP2.

Always looking for my next P&S!

Looks like the dp2 is shipping from J&R.

I too am curious if they fixed all the downfalls of the DP1. I read that shot to shot with Raw was a 3 second delay and you could now access the menu during that time if you need to which you couldn't do before. But I wonder if they were also able to speed up the focusing/shutter speed? And I'm not too crazy about the new focal length of the fixed lens. I would have liked something in between the dp1 and dp2.
