Fiesta de la Paloma Exhibits Display is almost here!
9/8/2008
There are many talented and creative people in Coleman County; both young and old. It is almost time for the Exhibits competition and we want you to participate! In the next few weeks the rules and regulations governing entries of the exhibits will be in the newspaper, but I'm sure there will be many who don't read through those rules and regulations because there are so many and they've read them before. Well this year there are some changes, so we thought we would help you out by telling you about the various changes. That way when you read the rules and regulations you can concentrate on the areas most pertinent to your handiwork.
In Department A - Grandparents Brag contest - the short caption must be original. We can’t wait to see your creative words enhance that beautiful picture!
Department E - Crafts categories - (5) accessories - examples are bandanas, belts and embellishments. Added as separate classes are -
(11) Jewelry - Single piece or sets and classes will be divided as (a) amateur and (b) semi-professional, home business.
(12) Paper crafts, (13) Other original crafts.
Department F - Food Preservation - Rule #4 states - The item must be labeled with the product name, preparation date and processing method, only.
Department H - Food Preparation – numbers (11), (24), (36) Pie, any whole. Each pie will be judged on individual quality rather than by type.
New this year! Department I - Photography - there will be 5 classes;
1. Animals; 2. Still life; 3. Landscape; 4. All media, and 5. "Theme". The theme will be old houses in honor of our sesquicentennial year. Within each class photographs can be black and white, color or sepia toned and any camera type. There will be two age divisions, youth – 17 and under; adult – 18 and over. The photography competition is for amateurs only. Pictures can be size 3" x 5" up to size 5" x 7" and mounted on undecorated matte board, poster board, or other similar medium.
Also new this year is a third place cash prize for the best decorated cake department.
We are excited about the changes made to the Exhibits and are hoping that you will be too. Additionally, to make things easier we are putting a copy of the entry form into the newspaper so that you can fill it out and bring it with you when entering your item. Forms will also be available at the Extension Office, County Courthouse and the Chamber of Commerce. We would love to have so many entries that we run out of room. Help us make this years competition the biggest and best ever. We look forward to seeing you there. |
