There will be music, washer tournaments, all kinds of vendors, games and attractions for the younger generations (rock climbing wall, air slide, bounce house etc.). If you attend we can assure you a fun filled day and some tired kids when they get home.
There will also be raffle tickets available both days. This year we will be raffling off a gas powered ATV ( aka: a four wheeler) that will carry riders up to 140lbs. We are also working on some other prizes that we will post on the website as they arrive or are arranged (one of them is a helicopter ride around/over the city of Throckmorton). This raffle is to benefit the T.C.B.A. and are $1.00 each or 6 tickets for $5.00, 12 for $10.00 in other words, for every $5.00 you buy you get an extra ticket so if you bought $100.00 worth you’d get 120 tickets. Contact Jack or Mack for tickets at the numbers or addresses listed on this website.
The second raffle is to benefit the Throckmorton Volunteer Fire Department. They will be raffling off a Henry Lever Action Rifle. Chambered for a 22LR. This is one fine looking gun with American Walnut stock and excellent action. The prices for these tickets are exactly the same as the raffle for the Bob Lilly memorabilia. Contact Jack or Mack for these tickets as well or if you’re familiar with our community see any volunteer fireman and they’ll be glad to “hook you up”.
All awards will be given out at or around 7:00PM. The raffle winners will be drawn then as well. You need not be present to win the raffle prizes.
We also will be giving out the newest “spirit” award…”The Get Bent Award”. This award will be given to the team that exhibits the most enthusiasm for what they are doing at the cook-off. It has yet to be determined whether it will be given out Friday night or Saturday evening. We’ll get back to you on that. Just keep checking this website for further details. This is also judged by Jack and Mack.
Each team is free to give out samples or take “donations” for samples to the general public as they see fit.
As you can imagine there will be a lot of food passing through the judges tent(s). We ask that the public refrain from the tent. However, if you would like to be a judge feel free to contact Jack or Mack. We will certainly need quite a few judges and if you’re interested in tasting some of the best cooking in the state, by all means please contact us!
Finally, it’s important that we let you know what sanctioning body has jurisdiction over this event. It took the co-chairman (Mack and Jack) many hours of discussion to finally arrive on a sanctioning body that we thought embodied our principles and goals that we wish to achieve. That sanctioning body is….FUN! Never heard of them? Well come to our event and we’ll show you how it’s done!
