This is just hearsay, but I've heard these batch of drives have a lot of problems. Just FYI

Yep, I've read several articles on this. There is a firmware update, but updating the drive seems to be hit-or-miss at times. So you might end up with a good doorstop, brick, fishing weight, etc... for $106. On the bright side, the problem is only with 1 TB+ drives, below that you should okay from what I've read

Yeah I heard that too and I have a couple of the same model but haven't had any problems with it...but that's why you need more than 1 copy for your backup
