got the ps3 yesterday...
the $50 gift card is issued at the time of purchase, its not a wait and get the card in the mail type thing.
i bought a couple games and movies too... the motorstorm pacific drift and metal gear solid. i used to play MGS a ton on the original PS and i thought id get the newer one. from what ive played i was very disappointed. im one for dropping the disc in and playing immediately, this one had all sorts of movies and crap and the initial game play i experienced pretty much sucked. ill give it another try soon.
now im liking motorstorm... im a gear head so i love that sorta stuff... im still looking for a good first person shooter game. havent seen demos on the killzone 2 so ill dig around for those to see if that may be an option!

MGS won many awards, but I also haven't started the copy someone loaned me because I haven't had the time for the opening. Resistance: Fall of Man is a great early PS3 shooter that you can get cheap, and Resistance 2 was pretty sweet.

i ended up getting the AV adapter to use components connections to get to the tv and a fiber optic to get to the stereo receiver. it worked out well... well enough for not having HDMI inputs on my tv that is...
i need to look for a new tv but have no idea where to begin.

i need to look for a new tv but have no idea where to begin. | Oddly enough my TV choice tend to follow my Camera and I go with Sony. My XBR4 is killer, the newer XBR6 is even better and cheaper!

I have MGS and rarely play it. The controls for movement just threw me off. COD is much easier to get the hang of and online play is very addicting. MGS is decent...I just couldn't get past the controls...
Mine is hooked up through HDMI to a Samsung LCDTV that I really like. Got it through Amazon for about $500 less than any local retailer, tax free and free delivery. http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/d...LN46A750R1FXZA

I really could not be much happier. The DLNA implementation could be a bit slicker...but it does work. I have mine plugged into a old Linksys router that I put open source firmware on and turned it into a wireless ethernet bridge. Have my cable box, PVR, TV, etc plugged into it. I also just plugged in a 8GB thumb drive with thousands of pics and music so that the wife can turn it into a slideshow device easily.

I think the Samsung "series 6" and up are the best LCD's on the market.
But, Pioneer has a pretty good price drop right now on there 50" plasma Kuro.
I would look at those also.

Actually, I don't have that great of luck from either due to my wireless not being up to snuff apparently. I also get a bit tired of the "format not supported" or "Corrupted file" messages... But...for audio and pics it works well... And for most DiVX stuff. I just haven't spent enough time figuring out exactly what formats/settings it likes the best (TV and/or PS3). | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
