PS3 is awesome. I have had mine for quite a while now, even running the folding@home application 24/7, and it is running great. One you go BD, it is hard to watch DVD.

It plays PS1 but not PS2 games. Of course it also does CD and DVD, but they dropped the SACD capability along with the PS2 capability.

I think I am up to 11 games now and 100 BDs or so.

If you don't already have one, be sure to get the Reward Zone card. Eithther just the card or the actual MasterCard. It is ridiculous how many points I earn just by using my mastercard for all my everyday stuff. Even with the standard Reward Zone card (not credit) the PS3 will earn you $10 or so, and since it is free you might as well sign up.

thanks for the reminder... i think i have a few reward zone $5 coupons at the house etc i can use for the purchase.

I still have my old 2001 HD projection screen tv so it doesnt have the newer fancy schmancy HDMI inputs so i think i can use the hdmi to input into my stereo receiver and then use the HD component cables (not standard rca's) to get the signal to the tv.

should still be a good picture then.

Sounds like an excuse to update the TV. Do you have a DVI inputon the TV? That would be better than component, and you can get an HDMI female to DVI male adapter, or HDMI male to DVI female if you already have a DVI cable.

Remember, do not buy the stupid expensive HDMI cables. Cheap ones work just as well since the signal is digital. In fact of you are not in a rush, order your HDMIs from monoprice.com.

no DVI input... just the component Y-PB PR jacks

my big tv broke about a year ago and i paid $200 to get it fixed. i thought about getting a new one then and selling the one i fixed... maybe i should still do that. hahaa.

Just grab Killzone 2 on Friday. It is supposed to be the most amazing PS3 game so far.
