I grew up right around there - Satellite Beach. There used to be a great burger place on the Merritt Island side of Mather's Bridge (and a "dragon" at the southern tip of the island).

Sadly, the dragon did not survive the last series of hurricanes, nobody has funded the rebuild. The burger place burned down, now the county owns that small bit of land next to the bridge, and it is chain-linked-fenced-off. Otherwise, some new buildings (short condos?) have been built between the bridge and and the end of Merritt Island.

We also received a nice rain two days, ago, in southwest Florida. I had gone out to shoot sunset, as I knew that there were finally clouds in the area and it had been so long since we had even seen a whisper of a cloud.
It wasn't the best of sunsets, but I did manage to catch an interesting storm off the coast.

I like the intensity of the rainstom image, Bob.

Mathers Bridge was my Dad's favorite place to take me fishing as a kid !! Pulled a lot of big Drum's off of it !!!
It was a lot different bridge back then, It was a old steel bridge that I remember that bridge keeper having to use a long steel pole to crank the bridge open for boats !!
That was almost 50yrs ago, thanks for the memories !!! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
