Wimberley is located on Hwy 12 south of Dripping Springs, generally about 30 miles south west of Austin. It is a small community known for its collection of arts and crafts stores (jewelry, paintings, glassworks, rustic home furnishings, etc.) around the old town center. It is a popular weekend location for Austinites out for a day of country shopping or driving around the hill country. Other popular destinations nearby include The Salt Lick in Driftwood, Canyon Lake, the Guadalupe River and Gruene, TX (home of Gruene Dance Hall and the Gristmill). Market Day in Wimberley is held the first Saturday of the month from April through December. http://www.visitwimberley.com/    |
