I've seen some decent Iphone images lately.
They do seem to be engineered to look best on the Iphone and not
on a larger screen.

I think you're right. I have to process the daylights out of my iPhone images just to get them to look somewhat decent for public viewing. It's fun to play with though as long as you don't get caught up in the technical stuff.
