I think that you did a great job on the focus. If I'd tried these shots, it all would have been a blur. :)

What type of critique are you looking for? Newbie critique or bad mamma jamma critique?

There are two ways to deal with motion - either freeze it, or show it. Not sure which of the two you wanted to do but you stopped motion, which is easier to do than showing it - just get the shutter speed high enough (in this case 1/250 or 1/500)

The symbol for motion is controlled blur. You can achieve it by panning the camera, by lowering shutter speed, or using other techniques. In general, and in my opinion, conveying a sense of motion is more interesting than freezing it.

These aren't great but I knew I could find them quickly, and they work to illustrate the point.

Image #1, background is static (camera didn't move) but the derby cars are blurred, implying motion. Not very tricky, just need a slower shutter.

Image #2, subject is static (camera panned with the subject) and background is therefore blurred, implying motion. Tricky part is to move the camera smoothly with the subject!

You usually want technique #2 since you want your subject to be clear, but there are reasons you might want #1 as well.
