Of course :)

You know, I just got LR 3 and when I use the presets, they tend to "over power" my photos...is there a way to tone them down??

I'm using LR 2.7 but they are probably very similar under the covers. Once you apply a preset you can then go back and adjust the individual controls to modify the effect to your liking.

With a little more work you can pull one or more versions into PS and modify or composite them. You can achieve very subtle effects that way.

I think the second photo would look great if you cropped off everything below the hotel sign. The street and lower portions keep it too busy and distract from the clouds.

That's just my amateur opinion.

Thanks for the comment. Street photography is not my day job. I'm just another amateur. I see your point about the crop. I've actually shot this sign a few times from different vantage points. With no love, so to speak. Part of the problem is that I'm shooting in the middle of the day when the light is really harsh. Maybe I'll try early morning or evening.
