Smile Watermark? - 02-07-2011, 11:55 AM

To me, such a large watermark right through the center of your photo distracts negatively the viewer's eye. There must be a better way.

I would desaturate the orange a bit.

I'd really like to start seeing the before shots of some of these "hdr" photos.

too much orange is probabally a good suggestion.

re watermark. i just read many many people writting about needing a watermark on photos on the web. so i tried a few. first i just put copyright notice on bottom left in white or black letters arial about size 14. then i realized anyone could take those out easily (not that i really need to worry about that) so i looked at the bigger letters some people use that would be difficuly to take out.

i really dont know what i like or even need. any feedback is good feedback on this subject especially.\

thanks

best origional photo of the three, with adjustments:
clarity 61, vibrance 33, saturation 17, black 11. color adjusted with eyedropper on the white water, then toned back aways toward cool colors because this adjustment made it much too warm.

i dont think you really needed hdr on this shot. there is not much difference between the original and the hdr composite. but the saturation on the makes the water too blue.

also a little extra foreground would have been nice to give more scale to the water fall.

th3ere is not a great deal of difference. i do see some subtle details in the leaves of the trees etc that i like in the hdr. I tried to take the blue out of the water in both photos and it just went too orange. i think the water was actually a little blue. it is of course man made.

yeah, I'm not seeing enough of a difference to even warrant the need for "hdr" on this photo.

it usually works best when you have shots where areas will be way to dark, and/or way to bright... expose for each area you want detail in, THEN do the "hdr" thing.

personally, I prefer taking just two shots (for darkest/brightest areas), then doing a good old fashion merge vs one of those automated hdr processes.

use a tripod ;)
