First time using a DSLR - 05-09-2011, 12:24 PM

Critique: CC:

So I bought a used Canon 30D and then a Canon EF 28-105mm 4.0-5.6 lens. I wanted to get to a park or someplace Saturday but that didn't happen. So Sunday I will out to the back yard and couldn't find much to shot but the dog and one single rose. Back inside I went after the 2 cats. It was overcast outside plus I have a couple really large shade trees. Inside I ended up using the flas on the camera.

My laptop needs a new hard drive and my netbook's (what I'm using) screen resolution wasn't large enough to download the software that came with the camera, so I edit these online.

I know these leave a lot to be desired but still wanted to share my first time using the camera.

Congratulations, Frank.....welcome to the highly addictive world of DSLR photography.

You're off to a good start.

You really nailed the focus on #5. Well done.

Welcome to addiction. I like the framing of #6. I would consider retaking that shot at different time of the day to get some nice light/shadow play.

Thanks guys, yeah number 5 was my favorite shot and one of the last ones I took. Can't wait to use it again. Like I said I didn't have much to shot but still took over 100 shots LOL

Considering your list of limitations, I think these look pretty good!

Thanks, can't wait to get my laptop fixed hopefully in a couple weeks. Will have Photo Shop on it, although I'm new to that also LOL. Plan on getting a lot of practice in.
