I decided to play around with some night star images this evening. The idea was to get ready for BiBe this weekend. I ended getting a reminder about shooting long exposures.
DON'T leave your camera in your vehicle all day. It gets very warm. Hot even. Even at 10 o'clock at night the sensor is still very warm and you will get plenty of "extra stars" aka hot pixels with a warm sensor.
Conversely you cannot cool your camera below the dewpoint or you'll get condensation.
I cloned the more obvious stuff out.
My light painting skills suck... and that's putting it nicely.
At 30s there is just a hint of trailing with a 17mm T-S @f4, ISO 800
Which frame has the Big Dipper in it?
