Big Bend from my 4x5 View Camera - 07-12-2011, 02:15 PM

Critique: CC:

Here are the shots from the trip July 4th weekend and my comments on each one to follow: Feel free to add your opinions of the shots.

First my Tree with the Rock wall behind it. Not happy with it, Too much going on in the photo, so I cropped to a smaller area which helped but don't think it is a wall hanger.

Second, Big Bends Signature Peak, forgot what it was called but the sky was not good so kind of boring but the 4x5 did pretty good with what it had to work with, still not a wall hanger but to show the resolution here is a crop from the scanned film, just to show what you get with large format.

Third: The Window, I actually was pretty happy with this one. The Velvia brought out a nice color. I cheated a little by pulling the sky and adding a ND filter to bring the color out then merged it back via HDR with the original and it turned out pretty nice.

Fourth: The Tree in Velvia, and BW Acros 100. Think both turned out nice. The Black and White is my favorite but Velvia did bring out some nice color but once again the sky did not cooperate this weekend so color shots I felt were a little weak.

Felt I could get more out of the window shot so this is the finished one straight from the 4x5 chrome. So all info pulled out was from one shot. No HDR shot. I love shooting large format.

I like both versions of the window and the B&W tree in the water.

Wow, some very impressive shots. I also like both versions of the tree in the water.

Rob... you are making me want to use the f word. I like them. The tight crop on Casa Grande (now you know the name) is amazing.

I'm glad to see that you're already posting them. That's a pretty good turnaround

It is really easy, just say it F I L M. You might need to say it slow since it has been awhile :)
