Medina River in Drought - 11-06-2011, 05:49 PM

Critique: NC:

In the ten years I have been photographing at this location the river has always been flowing. I was shocked to be standing in the middle of the riverbed making images. Shot with E-P2 20mm 1.7 and E-PL2 24mm 2.5 legacy lens.

It's crazy how dry we are, isn't it? I was out last night, at a large lake near here and was completely floored to find it completely dry as well.

Very nice shots. All too common sight lately. Hope this changes soon.

Thanks for the comments. Texas needs a good soaking that is for sure.

Oh my....that's awful. Is that taken on Hwy 16, south of Medina, just north of Bandera?

You know the spot. I happened to be driving by and spotted the dry river bed. Had to stop and shoot a few images.

I'm in disbelief....I recognized the tree line and other characters. Very hard to believe. Would have never imagined. Have stopped their many a times for "water" pictures and to let my lab have a quick swim.

Always wondered what the riverbed looked like. Good ol Hill Country limestone.

I like #3. The root system of the tree. Those are things that you don't get to see when theres water.

Agreed, we are in need of a lot of rain. Lake Lewisvelle is 9 feet low.

Oh man. I used to go out to Camp Bandina a couple times a year to swim in that river.
