book your stay before the holiday rush! - 08-06-2006, 02:34 PM

here are my shots from the baker hotel yesterday afternoon. it was a pleasure meeting everyone that attended, and i had the best shower of my life once i got home to mesquite. hahaha.

i processed all my images in both color and b/w, because in many cases i couldn't decide which i preferred. a couple of the shots are sort of non-traditional i guess, like the flat texture pics. i guess i just feel like as a whole set they help to complete the "feel" of the place, even if they don't stand up well on their own.

of course i encourage everyone to look at all the pics in the gallery here: http://www.bagofbees.com/Bakers/ not just select few i selected below.

Fantastic, Jezebel, especially when you see them altogether. You have an amazing eye for details! I actually like them in color, although the black and whites are also wonderful. Anyway, great job!!

Awesome shots.

I see alot of things I would have passed by and never shot, but you made them look amazing and interesting with your composition and attention to detail.

TXhummer2 - Thanks!

Leslie - Thanks, missy. :D I think that overall I tend to prefer the color shots as well. They have more of the hotel's personality in them I think.

Steelsun - People tell me that a lot. I really enjoy trying to find lots of details that make a place whole. :) Thank you!

Brad, Shane, & Kenny - Thanks!

Andrew - I appreciate that coming from you. Thanks :)

Roger - Yes, it was a great outing. I rarely get an opportunity to shoot things like this so it was exciting for me.

Janice - Thank you. I think there are probably plenty of regulations about entering buildings around here as well, but people do it anyway. In this case Dokk had arranged something with the owners for us to go in.

Dokk - Hahaha.... nope. I'm sort of sneaky when it comes to taking pictures! I did a fair amount of peeking around on my own, away from the crowd. Glad you like them, and thanks again for having me along :D

These are all great Jezebel, love em all, but as you might expect I really like the b/w's...the tonality and richness of them is superb! I need to teach you how to shoot large format...its cumbersome sometimes, but the negs will be worth the effort I promise!
