Good pic!

My parents had a Zenith b&w TV for over 20 years, never had a problem, still working when they went color. I, too, have had to throw out multiple monitors, too cheap to fix, just to spend more to "upgrade". Now I find out, this flat panel LCD I'm on cannot "calibrate" to print colors. Progress?

Speaking of TV's, CRT TV's are almost a 'thing of the past'!
I suppose that CRT monitors may soon be deemed to oblivion too!

but on a serious note, please don't dump them in the trash headed for an eternity in a landfill near you. Recycle them.

LCD or CRT.

Thanks!

Most LCDs haven't been adjustable when driven from the digital input. You just have to hope they were set up accurately enough at the factory that minor LUT adjustments will clean them up. My two Samsungs and my Apple not adjustable. The Apple and one of the Samsungs are pretty good, the other Samsung is old enough it seems to have drifted quite a bit.

The Eizo is DDC adjustable -- but it cost $3k :-(. Luckily more manufacturers are starting to add DDC adjustment to their LCDs, but it will be a while before they all have it.

As far as I'm aware, no one is making CRT monitors any more (or at least no one whose product I'd be willing to have). My Artisan is sitting out in the garage along with a couple 19" and a 17" monitor :-(.
