Shot this today to check my 28-135 lens recently serviced by Canon. Split toned in LR and finished using CS4.

Shot these this morning February 25th at the Alamo siege reenactment. The black and white images seem to have much more impact than the color versions. Might be the costumes that lend themselves to black and white.
Both images were made with a Canon 60D 28-135mm at 135mm, f6.3 and 5.6

These look great in B&W. Of course, I like most things in B&W! LOL! I think that the textures in the top one really take the place of color, anyway... you don't need any color to support it, compositionally, and it would probably get in the way of the image, unless it was very muted.
I haven't been out shooting in weeks - - I'm going to have a lot of catching up to do with you guys...

Thanks for the kind words. I always have a great time at the Alamo reenactments. They occur right at the first blush of Spring when I can't wait to get outside. They also provide an incredibly target rich environment for street portraits and general people photography.

I love the color version of this one, too... but wanted to share the monochrome on this thread...

Rusty Blackhaw Blossoms | Wonderful image. I saw a few trees in bloom when I was driving in the Hill Country this weekend. The bloom is also just starting here. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
