Glass Bottomed Boat - 04-23-2007, 10:28 PM

Went to dreamy old Aquarina Springs for the Earth Day celebration there. Shot a lot but I always loved the boats on the lake there.

Coming in to port

Almost home

The Captains roost.

All with a D30, the first two shot with a Helios 44M-4 lens, the interior with a Mamiya 80mm 645 lens (All Manual)

Cheers

Jules

I haven't been down there in a long time. I'll have to put that on my To-Do list. Nice Pics BTW.

I couple of years ago I had the chance to dive in Aquarena Springs. I hope to get back there in the next couple of months to see the Glass Bottom Boats from underneath.

Do So my man.
It's changed a lot. It's owned by Texas State now (nee SWT) and is pretty nice.

It's still a big dive place. I seldom go there where there isn't a contingent of hard hat divers getting in ot getting out of the water.

I would love to visit there, the water looks smooth as glass. I really like the first picture.

Thanks Bill,
It's about 35 miles south of Austin. It's a very small place, a great long afternoon kind of place to visit. If you ever get up this way let me know.

The first two shots were taken with an older Russian lens (Helios 58mm, M42 mount, manual focus) that does some interesting things to the pics. It's low contrast, and somewhat soft up to about f5.6 then gets pretty sharp. Since the actual curves ground into the lens are not like modern Japanese glass it plays with perspective somewhat differently.

Cheers
