Anybody ever take photographys there? We are going there sat. Web says photography is ok just no flash. I'll give it a try and see what happens. Any tips would be great!

Thanks in advance
Jim

P.S. I use a D300 lens are 13 to 135 and a 55 to 200.

I've shot there but I'd have to go to my archives to find out what I did. The best I can remember was using a Canon 20D and a 28-75mm f/2.8 lens. No flash! I don't remember my settings and I posted some on the forum but it doesn't go back that far I don't think.

You should get some good shots. Fun place!

jim you may have to use pretty high ISO but that camera handles them pretty good.

Okay, you made me go look. These were taken in November 2005. All were at ISO 800 and f/2.8. All the exif is intact if you can read it. If you can shoot at f2.8 your 13-135 should be plenty for focal length. With the D300 you can probably bump up the ISO if needed. I expect you will have to deal with the netting for part of the show. Have a great time and shoot some in the main room before you go in.

you cannot

the 18-135 is a kit lens with variable aperture 3.5-5.6, same with the 55-200

kind of a wierd selection to go with a D300

The 18-135 was what Wolf Camera suggested. The 55-200 Is my wifes from her D70s. I'm currently shopping for new lens.

Just remember to wipe your hands after you eat, and before you shoot.

In general, a wide focal range will compromise image quality as far as sharpness. Ones I've used (Canon and Pentax) vignette heavily on the wide end, and the max apertures are small and variable across the range. As far as Wolfe, all I'll say is that I stopped shopping there 12 years ago when they sold me a broken camera that had been returned (got a refund, but it's the thought that counts).

All that said, use what you have, crank up the ISO and have an excellent time!

That's a good choice! I'm debating whether to buy my next anticipated purchase there (always a good experience) or from B&H online (I've always had a good experience and items list for about $30-$50 cheaper than AC).

Thanks Cindy. It doesn't seem like over 3 years ago that we were there taking photos and just enjoying a good evening. My 20D was still new and had a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 mounted on it. I was in high cotton! LOL. I still have both and use them regularly.

I don't know who is putting on the show these days but I expect it's still a good one.
