Experimenting with light and Western Theme - 03-18-2009, 03:00 PM

I enjoy experimenting with light and this was an unusual place with a trailer full of straw. So I brought my 580's along and went off camera with a softbox on one and a simple stand behind the boots for the other.

Comments appreciated.

Nice. It is always fun to find things like that. It might have been more dramic if you could have snooted the light and made it more directional.

I like the composition and the light just fine. I think an older, more broken-in hat might work, too, matching up with the well-used boots.

Thanks everybody. Your comments are appreciated.

Janice E, I want to try the snooted lighting too I just haven't made a snoot yet. Maybe I should just purchase one. I agree it's lends to more drama.

Felix, you gotta do what pays the bills but something like this isn't that big of a production. You can do it.

Janice _d, just do it. I bet your dad would appreciate someone else admiring his old boots.

Hal, I agree about the broken in hat. Now that you mention it, I wonder what happened to my old hat?

Thanks again. Gives me some ideas for next time.

They went with this one. Some treatment I did in PS just for fun and that's the one they want printed.

Nice! Love the first shot you posted, and your processing in the second lends the drama apparently the client wanted.

Funny thing, though, as a bicyclist the rope looks more like spare bike tires. But only to me! :-)
