I thought this was the Corel Painter, which is really where they shine. Any chance they are giving that away somewheres?

I've been using X2, the latest version, for a few months now, and I like it a LOT. Hardly ever mess with PS anymore.

it's not a bad program, I used XI for a while, but it didn't support RAW images for the camera I had and instead of patching it they released a new version and wanted more money

they do offer a lot of options within the program I really liked, but the lack of ability to edit RAW images was a killer for me.

Yeah, as you mention, the latest version does support some RAW formats. I've tried it out with Canon's raw files and it works fine. Personally, I like the software that came with my Canon DSLR for manipulating RAW images. It actually does a nice job. So I wind up never using X2 for RAW anyway.

Thanks, I'm still using version 8 -- the last version when they were still JASK, I think.

I skipped ver8 and went to ver9 which was really good. But the changes in x2 are more than worth the cost. The noise reduction is fabulous and the general look-feel has improved. I felt 8 went backwards from 7, but 9 was a good program and I still use it some on an older computer.

Thanks for the info. I may just eat the cost as well. I went from 4 to 8 which was an improvement. Looks like X2 is worth the expense.
