That's a good deal. To get free shipping for orders under $200, use this coupon code: BTSFREE -- good until September 5.

Shipping is already free for orders over $200.

That's bad deal, 20% of retail.

Last week, newegg has the green 2TB for $179, 1Tb black version $79 shipped. Their every day price is $219, $95 as of today. No discount needed. Too bad i got mine from Dell weeks ago at $169 plus tax and shipping.

I just bought a 2TB Simple Tech drive from Frys. I got it knowing that SimpleTech was risky, but it had a 3 year warranty. It is already dead. And they haven't written me back. I am getting SOOOO frustrated with drives dying. They seem to only last a few years and have several important drives fail in the last couple of years.

I used to let the drives (computers) run all the time. A couple of years ago, I decided to start shutting down (hibernate) my system if I wasn't going to use it more than 8 hours. So, every night, I shut it down for sure. And, if I use it in the morning but am leaving for work, I will shut it down.

Well, I had a Western Digital MBW...NAS. It was complicated to turn on and off...and with it being a NAS, t kind of defeated the purpose of a NAS to shut off all the time. We have 4 laptops in the house and two desktops, and a Tivo needing a server. So, it is kind of complicated network...so I just left it running so the pictures would be available all the time. But it dies before it was two years old. Fortunately, WD replaced it under warranty. Unfortunately, they replaced it with a refurbed drive that was also dead. Fortunately, the case of the replacement drive was all that was needed to get the original drive working.

Point of this long story is 1) Pictures (any files) that exist in only one place might as well not exist 2) So, I decided to only get drives that were raid capable...which is why I got the SimpleTech 2gb raid 1 3) I shut down ALL the drives when not in use. At school, I am even shutting down the NAS over the weekend. It has 4 drives inside of it...and I am sure one of those will fail all too soon!

The reason for looking at this thread today is because I have to go to Houston this weekend and return that lame ST 2tb Raid capable drive. I was SOOOO hoping it would work out...but it appears as though it is JUNK!! But now I need to figure something else out that won't cost too much.
