That is because the iPhone (assuming you are talking about the 4), is simply one of the most amazing products on the market. It is the ONLY camera that I know of that has built in HDR capture. Give it time...we will see it on all the cameras...if it isn't already showing up.
I bought a iTouch 4 KNOWING that the camera wasn't as high of res but hoping that it had the other cool technologies, but it was lame...so back the Touch went. Apple could have cornered the market with the iTouch or an iPad with a 5 or 8mp camera.
Ironically, I am in the market for a new, SMALL P&S...despite having 6 DSLRs of different sizes (and functions including a D70ir)...to go in my iPad bag. I am torn between FORM and FUNCTION.
If I could only have an iPad with a camera!!!
