At this size, Do they roll them to ship or ship them flat?

Edit: I think I found the answer: "Our larger prints are shipped flat up to the 24x36 size. They're packed between two layers of sturdy cardboard with soft foam to cushion the surfaces. We place corners on larger prints to avoid bending and keep movement to a minimum."

A photographer friend had a 20x30 printed at walmart. They charged $20 I think and they rolled her print backwards so that there was finger prints all over it when she picked it up. She had them reprint it and they not only did the same thing again but this one had scratches on it. Yet another reason not to use Walmart.

Yep, shipped flat and their packaging has improved too. The ones I ordered were in great shape.

adorama I haven't used, but the WalMart/Sam's/ Costco prints I've seen are on very thin paper. I prefer PerfectPosters, and while ~$17 for the same size, they are a much, much heavier 9 mil paper, rolled but faced with a liner/cover sheet to prevent scratches, using pigment archival inks.

I like the Adorama stuff. It is on Kodak Luster or whichever paper you select. Heavy stuff. I would not compare it to Costco.

Just sayin.

We offer this in three paper types. Lustre is our most popular paper and with good reason: it is a great all-around paper choice. A slight sheen and an ultra fine texture coupled with accurate skin tone reproduction make this paper a favorite for portraits and wedding photographers as well as fine art photographers. Matte finish has the least amount of shine of all the papers we offer, but like other Supra Endura papers, skin tones are true and details intense. Glossy finish is a true gloss paper; high shine delivers high impact images with superb flesh tones. The Endura Metallic paper has a unique metallic sheen for stunning visual impact and depth. Our most dramatic paper for colors that pop right off the print!

Not sure if all WalMarts use the same paper but the sample my friend showed me was on very thick paper. It was just as thick as a Kodak 5x7. That was the only thing that impressed me on the WalMart print process. They did not use a cover sheet which probably explains the scratches.

I haven't done many prints that size, but the ones that I did have printed came out very nice and were not on thin paper. Costco uses Fujifilm Photo Satin Paper that, according to Adorama, is 10.8 mil paper. Costco also doesn't roll the photo.

i would expect adorama's to be quite heavy, the only of the above i have used personally was Sam's several years ago and it was heavy toilet paper; a friend at work used Costco and his (but several years ago) was not much thicker.....after that I used perfectposters and haven't looked back. The adorama price is definitely attractive, as well as their reputation for quality.

I quit using WalMart for any printing when they wanted a prepay w/CC for a 19 cent print and closed the 30 minute lab at the local WalMart Grocery.

I've never have anything printed online before. What format do they take. I'm sure JPEG but anything else?

The papeer has a metallic shine to it. Very cool with certain scenes, especially anything with neon or lights. I do IR shots on it too.
