I am trying to find a drive to buy. I don't know why. I have a 1TB internal...and a wireless 1TB. Not to mention an internal 700 and an external 300.
Like you Able, the problem is that I am filling up 8gb a shooting when shooting RAW + JPEG...and that is even with Nikon's compressed 12 bit raw instead of 14bit uncompressed.
The other part of the problem is that I too like to backup each card copy to three locations...two hear at the house...and then I take the card to school and copy it to a 1tb drive I have there.
Anyway, I have been shopping drives. The main purpose of yet another drive is to have one drive I can take with me the next hurricane. I am leaning toward making sure it is a 1.5 TB at the least. But what is the point when the drives fail so quickly. It just seems that 3 years and they are dead! My plan to copy to DVD periodically is just horrible. I just don't feel like I can trust drives any more...and it is getting crazy trying to protect data.
So, I have been hesitating on making my decision. I want 1.5, and I want the case to have USB and eSata. Seagate and WD make one. Best Buy has been running it on sale, $150. It is just confusing to try to get one on sale, wtih a 5 year warranty, have 1.5tb and have eSata.
