Your folks have good friends! I reckon the scanner is worth more as a deductable donation than a hard cash sale. We had a good laugh!

Western Digital external drives have a tendency to suddenly crash, unexpectedly. I had one that one day allowed me to access the images on it, the next time, it wouldn't access. It was tried on multiple computers - one running XP and two running Vista - and none of them would acknowledge it.
I have a friend who does computer tech support and he researched, trying to find a fix for it, and said that from what he saw, it seemed to be a common issue with no obvious answers on how to get my images off the drive.
Just putting it out there. I'll never buy another one.

Redundancy is king... I have my stuff backed up on several drives now so unless all 3 separate hard drives which hold copies of my originals die at once then im good... hehee
