Cypress Top Historic Park - 05-29-2009, 07:06 PM

I took some test images there today around 2 PM:

http://www.richardsfault.com/2009/05...essTopPreview/

I was the only person there the entire time.

A big advantage is that there are many areas that are shaded such as the front of the gas station and porches.

It would be easy to place a car in front of the gas station.

Pinup model heaven!

I drive past that twice a day on the way to/from work, always think about stopping and shooting but I unfortunately drive new cars. It's just begging to be shot with a classic.

This place is behind that Lowe's off Spring Cypress, right?

It's awesome place for a shoot!

I had a great shoot with a model there this evening:

The only problem was that the enclosed area that was open Friday was locked today, which didn't prevent us from getting many great images.

There was even another photographer there shooting family portraits.

All in all a positive and friendly place.

Nice shot, by the way can someone close the door before all the hot air gets in?

I saw someone out there yesterday shooting, passed by on my way home from work (~5:15pm'ish). Wonder if it's anyone from here? :)

I realize it's probably a money/staffing thing, but how much activity do they get on a Tuesday? The place might as well not exist.

At least it's better for pictures than the back side of lowes.
Pretty good spot even when it's locked up.

I know. It just seems strage to be open when everybody is working.

I can understand the limited building interior hours, but I see no reason why the gates can't be unlocked whenever the park is open.

The site says:

Hours: Park grounds open
7:00 am until dusk.

I would consider the area inside the gate to be park grounds.

I went there to shoot yet again last Friday, and the back area was open.

Since I didn't have the chance to shoot there before, we shot there throughout.

No one came by to lock it up by 7:45 PM when we left.

I just spoke with someone @ (281) 859-1566 who said the back area should be open dawn to dusk.

It's also possible to check in advance if there are special events ( that are best avoided ) scheduled for particular times.
