I did get out to that neighborhood but didn't stay long. First, it was incredibly hot with no air circulation. Secondly, there was a car across the bayou doing something that didn't seem right and they saw me seeing them and...well...it just made my instincts kick in. So I left. Nothing draws "good" people to "bad" places like photography, and we are often misunderstood or taken advantage of when doing so.
We tend to see the good in the places where we shoot while dismissing the dangers.
We tend to assume that onlookers are merely gawkers.
We lose touch with time and surroundings when engrossed in shooting.
Others may assume that our intentions are bad as they have no understanding of a good reason for being there.
New locations should always be pre-vistited and test-shot, especially if planning to bring models. Any feeling of "bad vibes" should be taken seriously.
