Headed to Galveston

I'm going to Galveston this weekend to shoot my cousin's engagement pictures. We are staying on the beach but other than the beach, where are some good spots to shoot at? She is more traditional but likes unique things as well!

the strand...I posted some pictures on TPF of a recent engagement session we had there.

There are a couple more on our blog as well.

The railroad museum is closed. so...pretty much the strand and the beach. There are cool cemetaries, but most people don't care for that kind symbolism in their engagement pictures. unless they are funky ppl. i'm sure there are more, but these are the main ones. the strand will be busy over the weekend...but so will the beach.

Hit the fishing jetties (or what's left of them), too. Nothing says romance like the surf crashing over the rocks, except maybe the smell of bait buckets and suntan oil! If you can stand the long wait, photographing them while on the ferry from Galveston to the Bolivar Peninsula might be fun (you probably won't have to wait if you all walk on rather than drive on). The harbor and old fishing boats could be a cool backdrop. There is the Elissa tall ship, but I don't know if the Seaport Museum allows professional shoots there.

Anyone know of any "country" type areas in Galveston? I'm heading out there for a family shoot this weekend, and while she loves Galveston, her 2nd choice for a location was a "country/ranch" type setting. I would love to find something out in Galveston to surprise her with!
