Fall foliage in or near Houston? - 11-11-2009, 07:52 AM

I lived in Houston since 1980 and I love it. I wouldn't move to any other city if I don't have too. However, one of the things I don't like about it is the lack of fall foliage (or maybe my lack of knowledge of where to find it). My friends are driving to Los Maples this weekend to shoot the foliage. They drove to Arkansas two weeks ago for the same thing. Because of family obiligations, I couldn't make either trips. Now I am wondering if there is anything like it around town where I can go and satisfied my thirst for the fall foliage pictures.
How are Mercer Arboretum or Armand Bayou right now?
If anybody have any idea, please let me know. Thanks a bunch.

There is some color emerging in George Bush Park, mostly Tallow Trees and some Oaks.

It's good enough for people images, where only a few sqaure feet is needed, but landscapes would be mediocre.

I have a shoot there planned for Sunday, and will follow-up.
