Grungesque darked-schemed location? - 11-27-2009, 08:30 PM

hello!

i'm looking for a more modern location to host a photoshoot. preferably something with a darker sort of atmosphere, ie abandoned warehouse, lot, etc in Richmond. a place that would seem to have a more despairing past in the area around it, or could hold a good crime sort of ideal.

thank you!

There is a building on the SW side of the I-10 and Hwy 6 intersection. The best way to get to it is go south on the Hwy 6 feeder from I-10. It's on the right just before the end of the new overpass. If you come up from Sugarland, stay to the right of the overpass, take the feeder to the first U-turn. Come back to the building. All of the windows are gone. A Chinese buffett sign is still on the building. Lots of grafitti.

Hey Wayne,

I just passed by there Thursday and Yesterday, and one of the buildings with the multicolor graffiti is getting torn up. All you can see are concrete rubble, but one wall is still there. I'll be passing by there again, so we'll see if the whole thing is still there.

and to the op, here's a photo of that wall...

Shucks. I scouted it about 2 months ago. I should have gone back sooner. Oh well.

I'll keep my eyes open for something else. And not delay!

Nope. I haven't been out in Houston much. Heck, I haven't been IN Houston much. Besides, the best places would give me the creeps unless I was in a large group. I don't know enough folks in houston.

I managed to get one shoot done there last year, most of which was shot on the other side:

There is also graffiti on some other buildings in the vicinity, including an empty Mexican restaurant.

I'm too "chicken" to park nearby, but instead walk over from George Bush Park. That way, no one sees my vehicle and I can just slip back into the park in case of trouble.

Could this location do?

Felicia as Amy Winehouse - 11.14.2009

It's adjacent to the Terry Hershey I-10 lot just west of Eldridge, and other than my encounter with a drug-crazed singer, is quite safe.

The Addicks spillway just north of there has a dark industrial mood, which will be even more the case now with the freeze-dried vegetation:

Felicia is gorgeous. She should be herself. Tri-X. Rodinal. Available light. I volunteer!

This may be a bit closer to herself:

Felicia - 11.08.2009

Sadly, she left Model Mayhem a few weeks after these shoots.
