If you are talking about shooting in the nightlife area of downtown you will find almost as many police as participants on Saturday night. I frequently shoot downtown by myself without concern. You may run into some problems from over zealous metro police if you decide to photograph MetroRail or on the platforms. They will ask for a permit that really doesn't exist but they will insist that it does. If it does, on two different occasions of visiting the security desk, I haven’t found anyone that has ever heard of it. The first time I did receive a yellow PostIt that says it is okay for me to photograph MetroRail. If you want to shoot Metro call the office and talk to Rachael Roberts. She can call dispatch to let them know you are going to be taking photos. They keep changing who does what but Rachael was the last one I talked to and she can probably direct you if she can’t help. |
