Needing to do a family of 4, mom & dad w/ 2 small girls. They are in the Kingwood area (never even been there) Something old and rustic would be nice, or parks with open shade?

Another option would be to meet somewhere 1/2 way around downtown (I'm in Friendswood) Was thinking Discovery Green, but their permit page frustrated me - do I need one or not?! Or maybe even Hermann, but I know the Japenese Garden's has become strict (when did that happen and why?)

Any other thoughts? It'll be in about 2 weeks and about 6pm. Or what about open fields? That's always nice too.

How about the Woodlands. There are several fountains and a waterway behind "crush" bar.
And Market Street area.
No one cares if you shoot around there.
For downtown, try the Sabine St Bridge, or the park just across from it, under 45 towards the skyline. Lots of Historic homes, benches, and flowers, etc.
(Sesquicentennial Park)

Sarah,

Here's a link to my galleries:
Rockin-Photos - Photography by Jerry Bishop

Look at the ones marked MERCER ARBORETUM. It's near I-45 and FM 1960. I believe they close at 7pm during the summer, so if you're starting at 6pm, you won't have very long to shoot there. Also, I have more photos taken in Mercer in there. See "Cosplay...", "Sisters...", "April Mini...", "Portraiture...", and "May Mini...".

Jesse Jones Park in Humble has some very cool old buildings, but you have to walk about 1/4 mile to get back to them. Photos taken there are in galleries marked; "Vampire...", "July Pioneer...", and "Pioneer Homestead...". I believe this park also closes at 7pm during the Summer.

In Kingwood itself, look at the gallery marked "East End Park".

Let me know if any of these help you, and be sure to post some photos once your shoot is done.

Jerry

Which is totally pointless.

Meyer, Hershey, Oyster Creek, and others are open until 9 or 10.
