Is there a list captured anywhere in TPF of the various Houston Area Locales and whether thety require permits, and who to contact?

That would be an enormously useful tool.

Good idea as long as research is passive and the list only shared with those in the TPF community. By passive research, I mean observing on-site signs and posted rules, visiting venue websites, Google research, and postings on TPF and other forums. Should none of these suggest a need for permits, shoot with confidence and common sense.

Avoid asking each and every venue as to whether permits are required as you could be given inaccurate info or worse yet, put the idea of permits into the minds of staff who may have not known of the concept before. Doing this also makes photographers appear "meek" and not confident in their rights.

My thought was more to gather the info others have already collected. Places like the Rose Gardnes I know I have seen info, just not where.

Hermann Park:

Can I have my wedding photos taken in Hermann Park?
Any commercial use of any city property requires a permit. A professional photographer must obtain a permit for a photography session in Hermann Park by calling the Garden Center at (713) 284-1989. Professional photography is not permitted in the Japanese Garden.

FYI,

A Permit for Herman park is per day at the rate of $150, as I just found out this A.M.
