I am determined. Found this from the preservation website (info for bicycles)and am going back this afternoon to look...
Oxnard Park is at 16702 Oxnard at Saffron and is a very nice pocket park on Clear Creek. Oxnard Park does not really have a launch site but it has the ruins of an old house along the creek. The concrete area here may have been the slab from the house. Whatever it is, it makes for a good water access point. To find this area, walk to the north section of the park and follow the trail down towards the creek. When you come across another trail at the creek you will take this one to your right. Start to look for the chimney and other remnants of the old house.

We stopped at the second trail

What makes anywhere a "pocket" park?

ANOTHER PLACE: After looking at RhondaRocks flicker page, I know of a place with similar, not colorful, place in Alvin.

The old rice grain plant. You need to go after hours or anytime they are closed. HWY 6 toward Manvel - Left onto 2nd/Yellow Jacket - the warehouse I am thinking of is just before the RR tracks. I'll dig out some old pix I took a year ago and try to post.

Can't wait to see the place in Alvin!!

Well, we found the chimney!!! It was easy. During my first visit today, I stopped to take a photo of a tree with moss and didn't look around. The ruins were RIGHT there!

When you get to Oxnard Park and are standing looking at the playground, take the right pathway...You walk past someone's back yard. After a very short walk... You will see the leafless tree with moss hanging and can go straight or right...Just LOOK right and you will see the chimney and slab. It's right on the water. Easy now that I know where it is!
