Question Something secluded. - 04-01-2011, 07:37 PM

Hey all!

Looking to do an outdoor on-location boudoir session, but have no idea where to start scouting for locations that aren't exactly visible to all of Houston/Spring. Some place natural, or even some place urban.

Any tips or ideas you guys have, is def appreciated!!

ps. don't mind driving out.

Thanks!! =D

For something like this, I might try to find a piece of property that I liked (like maybe a house with some acreage) and then ask the owners if you can use their property for a shoot (and compensate them with a certificate for a complimentary session or something). You just never know who might come tromping through public property, even it it's secluded. :)

Sure. You know, I actually keep a little notebook in my car - I am ALWAYS looking for new locations, even when just driving from one place to another, and I write down anything that catches my eye - the address, what kind of place it is (private home, barn, antique store, etc.) and what kinds of shoots I may want to do there.

I put a lot of location on the client, explaining that this type of photography outdoors requires a private location. Many times they have access to property or know someone who has land that they can get permission to use.

Not sure how much time you have but I'd suggest grabbing some light gear and taking a walk versus driving. I used to scout secluded locations all over Jersey Village area and not come up with anything, then one day I just put on my backpack and walked around. Found lots of different locations for different types of shoots. The only problem here is the buildings all look alike :(
