Hermann Park question - 06-28-2011, 09:54 PM

I haven't done many shoots downtown and we actually just moved to Katy almost 2 years ago and I am not familiar at all with downtown at all. I have a client that wants to shoot in Hermann Park (family photos) Will I be OK with shade around here if it's bright and sunny in the morning? Any rec's on where would be best to shoot around there? Thanks!! :)

Try to do it either real early, or late in the afternoon around the golden hour. Go deeper into the park toward the back of the Japanese garden. There's a small bridge there that's perfect for family/bridal shoots that I used to bring my clients to.

Thank you! We are actually meeting at the Japanese Garden so I will check around there for the bridge you are referring to.

Officially, there is no pro photography allowed in the Japanese gardens....just FYI

I would not count on a lot of shade from Hermann park.

Yeah anything looks slightly pro, they'll chase you out of Japanese garden. The reflection pool is pretty good to shoot too, try not to get wet from the fountains end.
